Band Biography
Named after a historic New Orleans "jazz venue", Gypsy Schaeffer
combines a deep-rooted understanding of the jazz tradition with a fresh
sound and an innovative approach to the small group format. A piano-less
quartet comprised of trombone, saxophone, drums and bass, Gypsy Schaeffer
is quickly becoming a driving force in the Boston music scene with an ever
growing body of original works.
Gypsy Schaeffer
was founded in 2002 and began their performance career as a band with a
one year residency at the Cambridge Brewing Company where they performed
jazz standards and originals each Sunday. They left the CBC to focus on
original music and to concentrate on their self-titled PeaceTime Records
debut. The band has continued to expand their sphere of influence to other
venues, including appearances at Kavehas in NYC, Chris' Cafe in Philadelphia,
The Dancing Goat in New Jersey, The Fireplace, Zeitgeist gallery, New England
Aquarium, Matt Murphy's Pub, and Ryles Jazz Club. GS recently finished a
spring tour to Philly, NYC, Boston and NJ. They are currently working on
their next CD, slated for release in October 2006. In the meantime Gypsy
Schaeffer will be performing in the Boston Area. Please check the Calendar
